Frequently Asked Questions

Why GENERATE SKIN?

How do I know which products I need?

When will I see results?

Will Retinol make my skin peel?

What do I do if my skin peels with Retinol?

Are there any contra-indications to using GENERATE SKIN?

GENERATE SKIN offers powerful, prescription-strength ingredients such as antioxidants, vitamins, retinol, growth factors, hydrators, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs). The skincare products achieve rapid transformative results for the skin and have been specifically developed to complement our clinical skin therapies. GENERATE SKIN accelerates, optimises and maintains the results you see with your skin.

Your skin journey with us starts with a thorough consultation with our skin experts. Following the consultation, we will prescribe individual skin products and treatment plan for you. This often involves specific GENERATE SKIN topical products to use at home, targeted medical facials in clinic (which may include microneedling, mesotherapy, peels and lasers) and regular reviews to ensure that your skin objectives are being met.

Most people will see some improvements in their skin after the first 4 weeks of treatment. However, it’s important to bear in mind that it typically takes 3-4 months for all of your epidermal cells to be replaced by completely new cells. Thus, it can take up to 3-4 months for you to see the full benefit of any new topical treatment being applied to the skin

Retinol (also known as vitamin A or Tretinoin) is a very useful topical ingredient that helps to treat acne, pigmentation, pores, sun damage and signs of ageing. It does, however, have some temporary side-effects such as redness, sensitivity and peeling. These side-effects can last for several weeks after first starting retinol or after increasing the dose or frequency of retinol. However, these side-effects can be very beneficial for the skin as they help to improve the micro-circulation and exfoliate dead, dry and dull epidermal cells, leaving the skin looking more vibrant, hydrated and smoother.

Peeling is the gradual exfoliation of dead, dry and dull epidermal cells. This is a healthy process for the skin and is temporary (until your skin becomes more tolerant of retinol). If you are finding that the skin feels too dry, sensitive, stinging or peeling excessively, then you can pause your Retinol cream for 3-5 days and just use the hyaluronic acid moisturiser after washing and sunblock during the day

We will always go through your medical history during consultation to assess whether GENERATE SKIN is appropriate for you. Some of the products in the skincare range may not be appropriate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or currently trying for a pregnancy. Furthermore, if you are planning to be in the sun, please let us know so we can advise you on how to adjust your skincare routine whilst in the sun
