At our London clinic, we dissolve fillers using an enzyme called Hyaluronidase. We can dissolve all hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, Restylane, Teosyal, Stylage, and Belotero. We do not dissolve non-hyaluronic fillers like Radiesse.
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that naturally occurs in our skin but can be injected at higher concentrations to dissolve unwanted filler rapidly, such as too much lip filler, to gain a more natural appearance.
The enzyme is a powder mixed with saline, and then this solution is injected into the area where the filler has been placed.
How long does filler dissolver hyaluronidase take to work
When undertaking filler dissolver treatment with hyaluronidase, the hyaluronic acid filler will be broken down and disappear in minutes.
However, the treatment results are usually only apparent after 24 hours (once the swelling has gone down).

At Drs Tatiana + Rishi Advanced Aesthetics, we ensure that only highly trained doctors or surgeons carry out nose, cheek , chin and lip filler dissolve treatments. So you can be sure you are getting the highest possible standard of expert care. When considering an injectable dissolver cosmetic treatment, we recommend that you start by booking a consultation with the clinic to discuss your appearance concerns. During the consultation, we will assess the fillers of concern, often lip filler or cheek fillers, answer any of your questions, show you examples of our filler dissolving work and develop an effective hyaluronic acid filler dissolver treatment plan for you.
On the day of treatment, your doctor will confirm the dermal fillers dissolving treatment plan, take you through the consent process and take some pre-treatment photographs of your appearance. We will conduct an allergy patch test on your arm to check that you are not allergic to the enzyme. The area of treatment will be cleaned, and numbing cream will be applied. Once the area is numb, and provided there was no sign of allergy, the doctor will start the treatment. The dissolving injections usually are no longer than 5 minutes. After treatment, the doctor will apply aftercare cream and discuss how best to look after the areas that have been treated. The receptionist will then offer you a review appointment and send you an email confirming the aftercare instructions.
Hyaluronidase enzyme is used to dissolve any hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Teoxane and Belotero. If your filler is non-hyaluronic acid e.g. Radiesse, Sculptra or Ellanse, then this treatment will not work. Non ha fillers cannot be dissolved and can only be surgically removed.
Yes, a patch-test is done at least 20 minutes prior to injection of the hyaluronidase enzyme. This is to check for any immediate allergic reactions that would mean it is not safe to inject the enzyme. If there are no signs of allergy (such as itching, redness or a wheal) after 20 minutes, then we can safely proceed with dissolving fillers treatment.
Our aim is to inject the minimum necessary dose of enzyme for the unwanted filler so as not to dissolve the body’s natural hyaluronic acid. For this reason, we only inject small quantities of enzyme per treatment. This means that more than one treatment may be necessary to remove the unwanted filler completely.
Dissolving fillers can cause discomfort; however, we use numbing cream and numbing injections to help minimise any hurt from filler dissolving.
As with any injection, you may experience some redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising after dissolving fillers. These may take a 2-3 days to resolve and bruises sometimes longer. We advise that you don’t plan treatments around important commitments and allow at least 2 weeks between hyaluronic acid based fillers dissolving and an important social or work event.
Our filler dissolving treatments are performed on patients by fully trained and experienced doctors and surgeons. You can rest assured that you are getting the highest standard of care by every skilled member of our team.
We recommend that you avoid taking blood thinning tablets such as aspirin or ibuprofen (unless prescribed by your doctor) for 3 days prior to treatment. We also advise avoiding alcohol intake for 24 hours prior to treatment. It is also important that you are available for follow-up after treatment, so we recommend not to book injectable treatment if you are travelling in the next two weeks.
Unwanted results is by far the biggest reason for people wanting to dissolve dermal fillers — the skilled practitioners at Drs. Rishi and Tatiana always focus on providing natural-looking filler results to prevent this from occurring.
Dermal Filler migration: This occurs when dermal fillers have migrated to other areas, resulting in uneven or unwanted facial appearance or discomfort. Lip filler, cheek filler and under eye filler tend to be more prone to filler migration due to facial movement and gravity.
Overfilling: This can cause an unnatural, uneven appearance or too much fullness. Many people are familiar with the so-called duck pout, with dissolving lip fillers being a common request.
Medical complications: tend to be a very rare reason for filler reversal requests and relate to filler blocking blood flow to blood vessels.
