What is PLEXR?

Until recently, the only method of treating a sagging eyelid was to surgically cut away the loose skin. However, the advent of plasma-technology has enabled medical professionals to non-surgically tighten and remove excess skin of the upper and lower eyelids. The Dr Tatiana Clinic was one of the first clinics in the UK to introduce plasma-technology in the treatment of upper and lower eyelids. We use the PLEXR plasma-pen to zap away loose skin and stimulate skin tightening.

How does PLEXR work?

The heat generated by the PLEXR plasma-pen sublimates (vaporises) the skin to remove unwanted skin whilst also stimulating the production of new collagen, elastin and hydrators to tighten the remaining skin.

All our PLEXR treatments require a consultation and patch-test prior to booking for a full treatment. This enables you to ask any questions you may have and to try PLEXR out, so that you know what to expect during your treatment and recovery. The patch-test also enables us to better understand how your skin will respond to the treatment and to plan any pre-treatment skincare.

On the day of your treatment, your doctor will assess how your skin responded to the patch-test. After completing the consent form and photography, the doctor will clean the skin and apply numbing cream. The numbing cream will be left on for 40 minutes. Once the skin is fully numb, the doctor will start the treatment. Once the treatment is complete, the doctor will apply after-care cream and give you specific face wash, soothing cream and sunblock to use after treatment. Over the next week, we will review you every 2-3 days and give you LED light therapy to help promote healthy skin recovery.

PLEXR is an excellent treatment for skin-tightening and is an effective way of treating upper and lower eyelids. If you have significantly loose skin, you may need more than one treatment. The treatment is available to Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV; darker skin types will have a higher risk of pigmentation

Yes, all PLEXR treatments require a consultation and patch-test. The patch-test also enables us to better understand how your skin will respond to the treatment and to plan any pre-treatment skincare

We normally advise between 1-3 sessions of PLEXR. The number of sessions required will depend on your skin quality and how much excess skin needs to be removed.

The results are permanent. It is worthwhile bearing in mind that, after treatment, the skin continues to age in the normal way and so you may require further treatment in the future.

Most patients will not feel anything during the treatment. After treatment, the skin feels warm and sensitive, but not painful.

The skin is red, swollen and crusty after treatment. It takes 5 days for most of the swelling to go down and 7 days for most of the crusts to fall off. A slight pink colour of the skin may remain for several weeks after treatment, but this is easily concealed.

PLEXR treatments are carried out by Dr Tatiana. Your LED sessions after treatment will be with one of our experienced therapists.

Your skin should not be tanned prior to treatment. You will need to provide us with a medical history and details of all medication and skincare that you are using. Some topical creams such as retinol will need to be stopped for 7 days prior to treatment.

Prices start from £800 for upper or lower lid treatment. Any aftercare such as creams or LED sessions, will be included in the price of your treatment.
