Pore Reduction Facial treatment is a combination of 3 of our most effective therapies used to treat large pores. First, the skin is micro-needled, stimulating skin repair and creating channels into the deeper layers of the skin. Second, a bespoke acid solution is applied to the skin, penetrating deep into the skin to clear our debris, shrink sebaceous glands and exfoliate the skin. Third, the T-zone is treated with a CO2 laser, resurfacing and shrinking large pores. We then finish with a hydrating mask and LED therapy to calm the skin.

How does Pore Reduction Facial work?

Pore size can be influenced by the level of oil production, a reduction of collagen and elastin as we age, the size of hair follicles and genetics factors. Most commonly a build-up of excess oil will make pores more noticeable and blackheads appear. By treating these concerns directly, we can drastically improve both the texture, and appearance of pores.

How to prepare?

Pore Reduction Facial requires a consultation prior to full treatment. This enables you to ask any questions you may have and prepare your skin for the treatment so that you know what to expect during your treatment and recovery.

On the day of your treatment your therapist will help you through the consent form and take photographs of the skin. The therapist will clean the skin (so don’t worry if you have makeup on) and apply numbing cream which will be left on for around 30-40 minutes.

The skin is then cleaned, a rich nutrient solution is applied, and the microneedling treatment is started. You may feel some light prickling on the skin, but this is not painful. Our bespoke peel is then applied whilst cool air is blown on the skin to minimise the sensation of heat or stinging. Once neutralised, the skin will feel slightly warm but comfortable. Special protective goggles are then placed over the eyes for the final step of the treatment – the CO2 laser.

During the treatment you should feel comfortable and relaxed; you can talk to the team or listen to music. After the treatment we will cool the skin, apply a soothing cream and then place you under the LED mask for approximately 20 minutes to help reduce skin inflammation and optimise skin repair.

In general, the skin may feel hot, be mildly swollen and will have some white or brown crusts across the surface (in the areas where CO2 laser treatment was done). We recommend that you use simple moisturisers and sunblock for 3-5 days after treatment. Oxygenetics foundation is excellent for use after this treatment because it helps to promote skin healing whilst also providing effective sunblock to minimise risks of pigmentation. Oxygenetics is available for purchase at the clinic but you may wish to choose your colour beforehand so that we can ensure it is in stock.

This treatment combination has been established as a safe and effective treatment for enlarged, visible pores as well as other skin problems such as sun damage, pigmentation, wrinkles and acne scars. The treatment is best suited to light to olive skin types. With proper preparation, darker skin types may also be suitable for this treatment, so please discuss with our senior therapist.

Yes, we require a patch-test for the CO2 laser at least 1 week prior to your Pore Reduction Facial treatment (even if you have had this treatment done previously elsewhere). The patch-test takes 10 minutes to do and can sometimes be done at your consultation appointment.

For optimal results, most patients will require 3-4 sessions (approximately 1 session per month). In some circumstances, less or more sessions may be needed.

The results of this treatment are long-term and can be maintained with simple skincare routines that your therapist will advise you about. However, over time, concerns such as pores, may return. Thus, you may benefit from doing the treatment again in the future.

With adequate anaesthesia, this treatment is not painful. We use a combination of numbing cream, numbing injection, cool air and LED light during and after treatment to minimise any discomfort.

There is some redness, swelling, sensitivity and crusting of the skin. Most people can be back to work within 1-3 days and back to normal social activities within 7 days. With more intense treatments, the recovery may be a little longer.

This treatment is carried out by our experienced therapists and doctors.

We recommend that you pause any treatments like retinol, tretinoin, salicylic acid or glycolic for 7 days prior treatment. We recommend that you do not tan for at least 4 weeks prior to and for at least 6 weeks after this treatment.
