What Results Can I Expect?

Open before and after gallery

At Drs Tatiana + Rishi Advanced Aesthetics here are a number of indications for injecting dermal filler into and around the chin. These include:

  • elongation of chin (to achieve better facial proportions)
  • projection of the chin (to achieve better proportions of the face in profile)
  • feminisation of the chin (to achieve a narrow chin and more heart-shaped face)
  • masculinisation (to achieve a wider, more defined chin)
  • injection of the chin crease (to reduce the appearance of a witch’s chin)
  • injection of the pre-jowl sulci (the hollows either side of the chin to achieve a smoother jawline)

Dermal fillers work by re-shaping the chin and surrounding areas to achieve better shape, proportions and definition. As with all our treatments at at Drs Tatiana + Rishi Advanced Aesthetics, we aim for a natural and subtle result that suits the proportions of your face.

How to prepare?

Dermal filler treatments are suitable for restoring lost volume and enhancing features. If this is a treatment that you are considering, we advise that you speak to one of our experienced doctors for advice. Fillers are suitable for any skin type.

There are several circumstances in which fillers would not be advised: pregnancy, breastfeeding, certain health problems, active acne or infection in the area of treatment, history of allergy to dermal fillers or other products used in the treatment. The suitability of treatment will be discussed during your consultation.

Dermal fillers do not require a patch-test.

Optimal results can often be achieved in one to two sessions. If you require further treatment, then this is normally done after 2 weeks to allow any swelling or bruising to dissipate.

On average, most patients will only need to repeat treatment in over 2 years.

The injections themselves are not painful. We provide numbing cream, numbing injections and skin cooling to minimise any discomfort. Most of our dermal fillers also have anaesthetic mixed in with the filler in order to provide further pain relief.

As with any injection, it is possible that you may experience some redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising. These may take a 2-3 days to resolve and bruises sometimes longer. We advise that you don’t plan treatments around important commitments and allow at least 2 weeks between treatment and an important social or work event.

Our injectable treatments are performed by fully trained and experienced doctors and surgeons. You can rest assured that you are getting the highest standard of care by every member of our team.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Teosyal, Restylane and Belotero can be dissolved. Dissolving involves and injection of water that contains Hyaluronidase enzyme. This enzyme disintegrates filler quickly and painlessly, to return your skin to normal.

We recommend that you avoid taking blood thinning tablets such as aspirin or ibuprofen (unless prescribed by your doctor) for 3 days prior to treatment. We also advise avoiding alcohol intake for 24 hours prior to treatment. It is also important that you are available for follow-up after treatment, so we recommend not to book injectable treatment if you are travelling in the next two weeks.
