What Is Profhilo?
Everyone is searching for the best way to achieve glowing, youthful skin.
In the world of injectable treatments, you may think dermal fillers are your only answer. But that might be because you have not heard of Profhilo. Because of this you might be asking yourself what is Profhilo?
Profhilo has become one of the most popular non-surgical treatments in the last few years. And it is for good reason.
This innovative injectable treatment not only improves skin laxity, skin firmness and overall skin quality, but you also achieve a more youthful appearance without having to change your facial structure.
At Doctors Tatiana + Rishi Advanced Aesthetics, we use Profhilo treatment to effectively treat the common signs of skin ageing. This includes fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, and uneven skin texture.
In this complete guide to Profhilo treatment, we will explore the key benefits, what to expect from your treatment, and how long the results last for.
If you want to chat to one of our doctors, you can also book an appointment to discuss your Profhilo treatment options.
What does Profhilo do?
If you want deep hydration and smoother and firmer skin, Profhilo is a great option for you.
It is a unique hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment that goes to work on the dermal cells (deeper layers of the skin) to stimulate collagen and elastin production.
Unlike dermal filler treatment, which adds volume to the skin and helps to contour the face, Profhilo is a type of skin booster that consists of pure hyaluronic acid.
The key ingredient of hyaluronic acid is important because it is a naturally occurring substance in the body that boosts skin elasticity and hydration.
We start to lose levels of hyaluronic acid and collagen as we age, which is why our skin starts to look dull, thin, and less firm.
This is why Profhilo is a great choice for anyone experiencing the early signs of ageing due to excessive sun exposure, lifestyle factors, and environmental pollutants.
What skin concerns does Profhilo treat?
The key benefits of Profhilo are:
- To improve skin quality and tighten ageing and sagging tissue
- Enhance skin texture
- Effectively treat skin laxity
- Minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Boost skin hydration and improve skin tone
Profhilo works for all skin types to give you more youthful and luminous skin.
How does Profhilo work?
Before you have Profhilo treatment, you will need to have a consultation with one of our doctors at our London clinic.
At this appointment, we will assess your skin condition, talk to you about your skin concerns, and show you how Profhilo works.
We will also develop a tailored treatment plan to address your issues and help you achieve glowing skin.
Once the treatment begins, your doctor will use a tiny needle to deliver your Profhilo injections using the BAP technique.
This ensures that the hyaluronic acid is spread evenly to key areas of the face.
The treatment is usually well tolerated by our patients. But we can discuss using a topical numbing cream first to help you feel more comfortable.
The natural hyaluronic acid that enters your dermal layers of skin, attracts water and will help to create intense skin hydration from within.
After your treatment, the injection sites might be slightly red and swollen. This is normal, and they will go down in the next 24-48 hours.
Over the next few weeks, the Profhilo will stimulate collagen production and elastin production in the skin.
This is when you will start to notice improved elasticity, firmer skin and smoother skin texture.
What is the difference between Profhilo and dermal fillers?
Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Profhilo does not sculpt or add instant volume to the skin. Instead, this non-surgical treatment leads to overall skin rejuvenation.
Here is how Profhilo differs from dermal fillers:
Profhilo
- Delivers a high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid into the skin
- Hyaluronic acid spreads evenly across key areas
- Increases collagen and elastin production
- Improves skin quality, skin firmness and hydration
Dermal filler treatment
- Adds instant volume to sunken areas
- Adds structure and definition to your facial features
- Targets specific areas that have deeper folds and wrinkles
- The substance is much thicker than Profhilo to help reshape
We often find that many of our patients will need a combination of both treatments to target the different signs of ageing skin.
During your consultation, we will talk to you about whether one, or a combination of treatments will help you achieve a more youthful appearance.
How many treatments will I need?
Some patients may only require two treatment sessions, but most will need a course of three Profhilo treatments. These will need to be spaced at least four weeks apart.
You will start to notice most results after a month or your second treatment. This is when collagen and elastin will start forming in the skin.
We will create a bespoke treatment plan that will work for your skin, and help you see natural and long-lasting results.
How long does Profhilo last?
The great thing about Profhilo treatment and the results is that they can last for several months, or even years. This is because the treatment stimulates prolonged stimulating activity in the skin, which leads to firmer and plumper skin over time.
How long your Profhilo results will last for can also be impacted by lifestyle factors such as diet, smoking and sun exposure.
We may recommend that you return to the clinic for maintenance treatment every 6-12 months. This will help you maintain your improved skin tone, hydration and elasticity.
