What is PRP?

PRP treatment is the injection of your own blood plasma, that is rich in platelets and fortified with vitamins and nutrients, into the skin. PRP is used to plump and thicken the skin, improve skin tone and texture, reduce signs of ageing and treat pigmentation, scars and stretch-marks.

How does PRP work?

Platelets, within Platelet-Rich Plasma, play a critical role in tissue repair and regeneration. They regulate important steps of the healing process. The injection of PRP stimulates skin repair, therefore tightening, remodelling and plumping the skin. PRP can also be combined with ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, nucleic acids, hyaluronic acid and powerful antioxidants such as glutathione.

How to prepare?

At your consultation with us, we will assess your skin, discuss your skin concerns and make a treatment plan to address your skin needs. At your treatment appointment, your practitioner will discuss the steps of treatment and take you through the process of consent. We will then clean the skin and take pre-treatment photographs. You will be given a head band and towel to protect your clothing. Numbing cream is applied and left on for approximately 20 minutes. The skin is then cleaned and the treatment is started. You may feel some mild stinging in the skin, but this is not painful. The treatment takes approximately 20 minutes to do. At the end of treatment, the practitioner will apply soothing cream and an LED mask. We recommend that you use simple moisturisers and sunblock for 3-5 days after treatment.

PRP is a safe and effective treatment to improve skin texture, acne scars, pigmentation and signs of ageing. The treatment is suitable for all skin types. Due to the use of numbing cream, we do not recommend this treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

For optimal results, most patients will require 4 sessions (approximately 1 session every month).

Most people will notice that their skin is more vibrant and dewy the day after treatment. Improvement in scars, pigmentation or signs of ageing may take several sessions to become apparent.

The results of a course of treatment are long-term. We do recommend 1 session every 4-6 months to maintain optimal results.

The treatment is not painful. Some people may feel a mild stinging sensation during the treatment.

There is some redness, sensitivity and the possibility of some bruises after treatment and this may last for 1-3 days. Most people can continue with normal work and social activities a day after treatment.

PRP is carried out by our experienced doctors

We recommend that you pause any treatments like retinol, tretinoin, salicylic acid or glycolic for 5 days prior treatment
