What is Hair Growth PRP?

Hair Growth PRP treatment is the injection of your own blood plasma, that is rich in platelets and fortified with vitamins and nutrients, into the skin. PRP is used to stimulate cellular regeneration and reawaken dormant hair follicles.

How does Hair Growth PRP work?

Platelets, within Platelet-Rich Plasma, play a critical role in tissue repair and regeneration. They regulate important steps of the healing process. The injection of PRP improves blood microcirculation through the scalp, aides better delivery of nutrients to hair follicles and stimulates cellular regeneration. This works to ‘reawaken’ dormant hair follicles and cause them to enter the hair-growth phase. PRP can also be combined with ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, nucleic acids, hyaluronic acid and powerful antioxidants such as glutathione.

How to prepare?

At your consultation with us, we will assess your hair, discuss your hair concerns and make a treatment plan to address your needs. At your treatment appointment, your practitioner will discuss the steps of treatment and take you through the process of consent. We will then clean the scalp and take pre-treatment photographs. If you wish to use numbing cream, this will be applied and left on for approximately 20 minutes. We will use a thin needle to take some blood from your arm, which is then spun in a machine and fortified with vitamins and nutrients. The fortified plasma is then injected into the scalp.

PRP is a safe and effective treatment to improve hair growth. The treatment is suitable for all skin types. Due to the use of numbing cream, we do not recommend this treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Optimal results are achieved when PRP injections are combined with our topical prescription lotions to accelerated hair growth.

For optimal results, most patients will require 4 sessions (approximately 1 session every month).

Most people will notice less hair falling after 2 months and will see new hair growth after 6-9 months.

The results of a course of treatment are long-term. We do recommend 1 session every 4-6 months to maintain optimal results.

The procedure creates a stinging sensation but is well tolerated.

There is some redness, sensitivity and the possibility of some bruises after treatment and this may last for 1-3 days. Most people can continue with normal work and social activities.

PRP is carried out by our experienced doctors and senior therapists.

We recommend washing your hair on the day of, or day before, treatment to ensure the scalp is clean. Do not use any hair products when coming for treatment. We also recommend not to put hair dye or other potentially irritant chemicals on the scalp for at least 2 weeks before or after treatment. Please bear in mind that if you wish to have numbing cream applied – the hair will look oily/wet after treatment.
