Lesion Excision
What is LESION EXCISION?
Lesion excision is a minor surgical procedure performed to remove unwanted, or problematic skin lesions. These may include moles, cysts, lipomas, skin tags, or other growths that are causing concern, discomfort, or affecting appearance.
The goal of excision is not only to remove the lesion but also to ensure the surrounding skin heals smoothly, with minimal scarring. Where appropriate, removed tissue can be sent for histological analysis to provide reassurance and confirm a precise diagnosis.
What is THE PROCESS?
Your journey begins with a consultation, where we carefully examine the lesion, discuss your concerns, and determine whether excision is the most suitable option.
- We will explain the procedure, expected outcomes, and any aftercare requirements.
- Lesion excision is typically performed under local anaesthetic, ensuring the area is completely numb and the procedure is pain-free.
- A small incision is made to remove the lesion in its entirety, often along with a thin margin of healthy tissue to ensure complete removal. Fine sutures are then placed to achieve optimal healing and a neat cosmetic result.
- Recovery is usually quick, with most patients returning to normal activities immediately after the procedure. Stitches are often removed after 7 days, depending on the site and size of the excision.
- Mild swelling or redness may occur but typically settles within a few days. Over time, the scar will fade and continue to improve in appearance for several months.
How much does LESION EXCISION COST?
The cost of lesion excision starts from £950.
This includes your surgeon’s fee, use of our private operating theatre and all necessary surgical and medical supplies.
As each case is unique, a detailed quotation will be provided after your consultation, once the exact nature and complexity of the excision has been assessed.
